Reimbursement summary for angioplasty of arteries of lower extremities

This post presents an extract from our reimbursement analysis for angioplasty of arteries lower extremities using plain and drug-coated balloons (DCBs) for peripheral artery disease in England, France and Germany. Plain balloon angioplasty is reimbursement via DRG solely and DCBs are reimbursement via combination of DRG and add-on reimbursement.

Belgian INAMI/RIZIV updated the List of reimbursable implants and medical devices

New material codes and related conditions of reimbursement for an Isolated iliac bifurcation endoprosthesis were added to the List of reimbursable devices of the Belgian National Institute for Health and Disability Insurance (INAMI-RIZIV) in June 2020.

  • The device will be reimbursed with a generic tariff (on the lump-sum basis) but only when included in the nominative list (32713)
  • The following material code has been applied:
    • 180854 - 180865 “Isolated iliac bifurcation endoprosthesis, in combination with an additional extension or a covered stake placed at the level of the internal iliac artery, used as part of the service 589610-589621 of the nomenclature” with a tariff of €4,050.15
    • 180876 – 180880 “Isolated iliac bifurcation endoprosthesis, in combination with an additional extension or a covered stake placed at the level of the internal iliac artery, used on the contralateral side as part of the service 589610-589621 of the nomenclature” with a tariff of €3,037.62
  • There are specific conditions of reimbursement, provided in paragraph G-§04 of the List of reimbursable implants and medical devices.
