Belgian INAMI/RIZIV updated the List of reimbursable implants and medical devices

New material codes for an implantable sensor for continuous measurement of glucose in interstitial fluid and embolization equipment were added to the List of reimbursable devices of the Belgian National Institute for Health and Disability Insurance (INAMI-RIZIV) in October 2019.

New material codes and related conditions of reimbursement have been implemented for the following devices:

Implantable sensor for continuous measurement of glucose in interstitial fluid:

  • Devices will be reimbursed through a Limited Clinical Application (temporary reimbursement for 400 patients from 2019 to 2024). At the end of this period, the device will be evaluated
  • The following material codes have been applied:
    • 174370 - 174381 “First implantable sensor for continuous measurement of glucose in interstitial fluid, including accessories” with the tariff of €1,003;
    • 174392 - 174403 “Implantable replacement sensor for continuous measurement of glucose in interstitial fluid, including accessories” with the tariff of €1,003;
    • 174414 – 174425 “Replacement implantable sensor for continuous measurement of glucose in the interstitial fluid, including accessories, in case of early replacement” with the tariff of €1;
    • 174436 – 174440 “First transmitter for an implantable sensor for continuous measurement of glucose in interstitial fluid” with the tariff of €600;

    • 174473 – 174484 “Replacement transmitter for the continuous measurement of the glucose level in the interstitial fluid, in case of early replacement” with the tariff of €1;
    • 174495 – 174506 “First implantable sensor for continuous measurement of glucose in the interstitial fluid, including accessories, after exceeding the total number of 400 174370-174381” with the tariff of €1,003;
    • 174510 – 174521 “First transmitter for an implantable sensor for continuous measurement of glucose in the interstitial fluid, after exceeding the total number of 400 174370-174381” with the tariff of €600.
  • There are specific conditions of reimbursement for these technologies, provided in paragraph M-§01 of the List of reimbursable implants and medical devices.

Embolization equipment
