Applications for coverage with evidence development programs released in France

On July 29, 2021, the French Ministry of Solidarity and Health published the instruction related to the 2021 application for coverage with evidence development programs. In the instruction, the specific fields of research, the application procedures, and the deadlines for applications for different types of projects (PHRC, PRME, PREPS, PRT) are specified.

Coverage with evidence development programs are designed to test innovations (feasibility, efficacy, safety, cost-effectiveness) before their implementation in the health care system or provide a framework for managed introduction with the parallel bridging of key evidence gaps. There are several coverage with evidence development programs in France, including hospital clinical research program (PHRC), translational research program (PRT), medico-economic research program (PRME), healthcare system performance research program (PREPS), and hospital nursing and paramedical research program (PHRIP).

Each year, these programs are detailed by instruction. In particular, the specific fields of research and the application procedures for each call for projects are specified. It is outlined that the letters of intent for the national PHRC (PHRC-N), PHRIP, PREPS, and PRME must be submitted via the INNOVARC platform before September 23, 2021, 6 PM CET.

The deadlines are the same for submission are established for the cancer-related PHRC program (PHRC-K) on the website of the National Cancer Institute (INCa).

Calendar for interregional PHRC programs (PHRC-I), for which the Ministry of Solidarity and Health delegates the organization and selection of projects to the interregional groups for health research and innovations (GIRCI), can be found on individual pages of these interregional groups. Links to individual websites of interregional groups can be found here.
