Application period for changes in the English OPCS-4 nomenclature open until October 01, 2021
Classification of Interventions and Procedures (OPCS-4) is a classification for clinical coding of hospital interventions and procedures undertaken by the NHS. The classification is mandatory for use by health care providers.
NHS Digital develops, maintains, and licenses OPCS-4 on behalf of the Department of Health. Classification is released every three years; version 4.9 is in use since April 2020.
The NHS Digital has opened the application period for changes in the OPCS-4 nomenclature. The recommendations and Questions & Answers about processing submissions can be found in the Submissions Guidance document.
The applications can be submitted via Request Submission Portal not later than October 01, 2021, to be implemented in the OPCS-4.10 version from April 01, 2023.
