The 2025 Norwegian procedure coding system (NKPK) released
In October 2024, the Norwegian Directorate of Health released the Norwegian Clinical Procedure Coding (NKPK) system for 2025. The coding system consists of three parts: NCMP for medical procedures, NCSP for surgical, and NCRP for radiological procedures.
A total of 15 new codes were introduced (to come into force on January 1, 2025) concerning cardiovascular, interventional radiology, neuromodulation, pulmonary, surgical procedures, and spine fields. Some examples of newly introduced codes are provided below:
- FPK56A Implantation of a transvenous pacemaker electrode into the heart's conduction system;
- PJI30A Injection of therapeutic substance into lymphatic malformation, X-ray guided;
- IBEB11 Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) with bifrontal electrode placement;
- ABFX02 Spinal puncture at the thoracic level.
