Critical care

In August 2024, NICE prioritization board decisions were published regarding the following Med Tech-related topics: clinical guidelines on lower urinary tract symptoms in men (prioritized), NPi-200 for pupillary light reflex in critical care (not prioritized), Aquablation robotic therapy in benign prostatic hyperplasia (not prioritized), and tumor treating fields in glioblastoma (not prioritized).

On November 5, 2020, the Dutch Healthcare Authority (NZa) published the third release of the DRG package for the 2021 (RZ21c) to implement reimbursement for extra beds in intensive care and added the pathway for new optional add-on services (using fast-track decision-making).

A new decree changed reimbursement approach for critical care in France. Before, it was reimbursed via daily supplements on top of base DRG tariff. New model introduces a mixed payment system with daily supplements and additional annual flat-rate fee, which depends on the size of the intensive care unit and activity in the previous year.
