Two more health apps obtained reimbursement in Germany

In May-July 2022, two more health apps were introduced in the Directory of digital health applications (DiGAs) at the Federal Office for Drugs and Medical Devices (BfArM) and thus became reimbursable. These apps can be prescribed by physicians and psychotherapists and will be reimbursed by health insurers.

On June 27, 2022, the health app "PINK! Coach" (PINK gegen Brustkrebs GmbH, Germany) was introduced. The health app "PINK! Coach" is a digital application that serves to improve the health-related quality of life and health literacy as well as alleviate the psychological, psychosomatic, and somatic consequences of breast cancer. "PINK! Coach" supports breast cancer patients in changing their lifestyle towards more exercise, healthier nutrition, and mindfulness in line with the current guidelines recommendations. The app is available in German with a tariff of €535.50.

The health app "optimune" (GAIA AG, Germany) was introduced on July 14, 2022. "optimune" is a health app for breast cancer patients who have completed their initial treatment, experience stress, and are at least 18 years old. The health app conveys particular methods and techniques of cognitive behavioral therapy. The main function is a virtual dialogue, offering the user short, therapeutically helpful information. "optimune" offers some other functions, including opportunities for self-assessment of the complaints with the help of questionnaires, downloadable worksheets, exercises (training), and summaries to support the implementation of the exercises and to review important content, etc. The app is available in German with a tariff of €952.
