Swiss Medical Board will discontinue functioning at the end of 2021

On September 7, 2020, the Swiss Medical Board has announced that the organization will discontinue its operations at the end of 2021.

The Swiss Medical Board was created in 2009 as an initiative of the Canton of Zurich. It has been operating nationwide since 2011. The SMB's activities have also prompted the Swiss Government to take action, and the Swiss Government has created its own program of evaluating technologies in order to reduce ineffective and inefficient services.  Thus, the Executive Committee of the Swiss Medical Board concluded that there is no point in maintaining parallel structures in a small country such as Switzerland. Ongoing projects and work will be completed.
