This post presents an extract from our reimbursement analysis for angioplasty of arteries lower extremities using plain and drug-coated balloons (DCBs) for peripheral artery disease in England, France and Germany. Plain balloon angioplasty is reimbursement via DRG solely and DCBs are reimbursement via combination of DRG and add-on reimbursement.

Norwegian authorities have requested evidence submission from manufacturer of Prosigna test in relation to assessment for funding

In June of 2017, the Ordering Forum RHF commissioned rapid method assessment for the Prosigna test. Only when the Norwegian Institute of Public Health receives documentation from the suppliers they carry out a quick method assessment. On 16th of the October, suppliers were requested to submit data to the Norwegian Institute of Public Health (NIPH) regarding clinical efficacy, safety, and economics of Prosigna test.

Regular update of the Norwegian Laboratory Code System released

On November 23, 2024, the Norwegian Directorate of Health released an updated version of the Norwegian Laboratory Code (NLK) system and associated tariffs to be implemented no later than January 1, 2025. Thirty-two new codes were added in the biochemistry, microbiology, clinical pharmacology, and immunology fields.

Updates in the coverage of medical services in Switzerland in 2025

On December 2, 2024, the Swiss Federal Office of Public Health published the changes that will occur to the Healthcare Benefit Ordinance (KLV/OPre), which determines coverage of medical services in Switzerland. The updates will enter into force on January 1, 2025, and they relate to the list of explicitly evaluated services (Annex 1 of KLV/OPre), outpatient-before-hospital services (Annex 1a), List of Tools and Equipment (Annex 2), and the List of Analyses (Annex 3).
