French National Authority for Health published its 2025-2030 strategy
On February 4, 2025, the French National Authority for Health (HAS) published its 2025-2030 strategic project. This strategy complements the HAS work program defined annually. This long-term strategy addresses key developments, challenges, and opportunities in the healthcare system, including:
- Accelerating and multidimensional innovations in healthcare. HAS needs to contribute rapid access for people to innovations that have demonstrated real progress, whether incremental or disruptive; the use of these innovations raises multiple questions in terms of methodology, ethics, the environment, equity, and financial sustainability;
- Demographic and epidemiological changes are leading to a need to restructure the provision of care and support;
- Social and territorial health inequalities;
- Financial and environmental sustainability of the health system.
HAS defined the following three overarching priorities:
- Promoting an integrated approach to people's life paths;
- Defining quality in a healthcare system under strain;
- Preparing for the future to consolidate the French model.
The HAS selected three key focus areas in which it intends to increase investment over the next five years:
- Prevention and health promotion through its public health work at the population level (vaccination, screening), its work on modifiable risk factors (cardiovascular risks, addictions, etc.), and social health issues;
- Mental health and psychiatry;
- Digital technology and artificial intelligence (AI) in health. It will focus on informing users' choices, seeking the right place for technology, and encouraging the responsible integration of digital tools through evidence-based guidelines.
