Designation of 21 reference centers to improve equity in access to high-level services in Spain

The project for the designation of Centers, Services and Reference Units (CSUR) of the National Health System (SNS) aims to improve equity in access to high-level services, concentrate the experience of high-level of specialization ensuring quality, safe, and efficient health care, improve procedures and care for pathologies with low prevalence. On June 30, 2021, the Interterritorial Council of the National Health System has approved the agreement of the Committee of designation of CSUR for the designation of 21 new CSUR:

  • Six for systemic autoimmune diseases;
  • Three for hereditary angioedema;
  • Four for primary immunodeficiencies (adults and children);
  • Three for autoinflammatory diseases;
  • One for pediatric vitreoretinal surgery;
  • Two for complex cataract in children;
  • Two for hereditary retinal dystrophies.

In addition, the designation of six CSUR for comprehensive care of adults with congenital heart disease will be renewed.
