2025 APR-DRG tariffs for the “low variability care” system released in Belgium
In January 2025, the Belgian National Institute for Health and Disability Insurance (INAMI/RIZIV) published 2025 APR-DRG tariffs for the “low variability care” system. This system was introduced in 2019 for certain low-cost and non-complex procedures reimbursed via APR-DRG groups instead of individual physician fees. Unlike in other countries, the APR-DRG tariff does not cover materials and ward stays.
Two documents were updated for 2025: prospective global amounts (montants globaux prospectifs) and distribution key (clé de répartition valable). The APR-DRG logic (Définition des groupes de patients) is not yet updated for 2025. The total number of APR-DRG groups remains the same as in 2024 (61). The reimbursement tariffs were increased by about 2.5%.
