Russian Government made a step towards approval of the national framework for telemedicine

Russian Government has approved draft legislation about telemedicine in the country. The document has a status of a Federal Law, which has the highest weight in Russian judicial system.

The proposed legislation covers number of elements, including:

  • United information system in health care (including standard electronic medical record, enhancement of management of existing patient registries, improvement of planning of demand in health care services),
  • Exchange of information about stakeholders in health care,
  • Ability to perform teleconsultation,
  • Ability to perform remote monitoring of health status of patient,
  • Ability to issue electronic prescriptions.

The next steps are review and approval by Parliament and finally, approval by the President.
