Reimbursement summary for angioplasty of arteries of lower extremities

This post presents an extract from our reimbursement analysis for angioplasty of arteries lower extremities using plain and drug-coated balloons (DCBs) for peripheral artery disease in England, France and Germany. Plain balloon angioplasty is reimbursement via DRG solely and DCBs are reimbursement via combination of DRG and add-on reimbursement.

Planned changes of Swiss DRG system and new add-on reimbursement categories (Zusatzentgelte) in 2018

SwissDRG has released overview of planned update of DRG system (version 7.0) in 2018, including list of preliminary approved add-on reimbursement categories. New DRG system will be put in action from 1st of January 2018.

In total, 189 applications for change of DRG system were submitted. Of these, 115 (60%) were implemented.

There will be in total 1037 DRGs in 2018 DRG system.

32-page document specifies changes in individual DRG categories.

The following add-on categories will be established:

  • Use of endobronchial valves
  • Proton therapy
  • Autologous matrix-induced chondrocyte implantation at knee joint
  • Implantation of motorized extension or bone support system
  • Intermitted hemodialysis for removal of proteins with molecular mass up to 60,000 Da
